Los Angeles based cinematographer.

I grew up in a small mid-western town. After studying journalism and marketing at Marquette Universiy, I moved to Los Angeles to pursue a career in film. Starting as a production assistant on television commercials, I worked my way through the ranks of the camera department to Director of Photography.

All flavors of cinematography appeal to me…from big special effects projects to small natural light documentaries. I have embraced the same strategy as cinematography luminary Roger Deakins by striving not be defined by one type of photography. There is much to gain by being able to participate in
all of the different disciplines. It also keeps one creative and fresh to not be only working in one genre. I have shot cars, food, comedy, drama, VFX, real people, kids, pets and a whole lot of athletes. One week it’s 5 cameras , rain towers and a Technocrane, the next it’s an intimate short documentary shot handheld. I love to collaborate with other artists …it might be the best part of this profession.

I have a real passion for black and white still photography and the medium influences all of my work. Where light shadow and frame collide, I often find inspiration and joy. I am very grateful to be able make my living in this medium.

I live in Ventura, California with my wife and children and spend most non-working days outdoors either kite surfing, mountain biking or stand up paddle boarding.
